School of the Art Institute of Chicago Simply College
About Me
Intro
I don't get for that traditional college/university stuff. In fact, I don't even similar the give-and-take 'higher' or 'university.' I'g an art school, okay? A fine arts school. One of the top fine arts schools in the country, in fact.
E'er heard of the Art Institute of Chicago (also known as i of the best art museums in the world)? Information technology's total of priceless works of fine art by the best artists in history. Well, I'm the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. The Fine art Institute is office of my campus. I happen to have the largest schoolhouse-museum campus in the U.s.. I can be little bit intimidating, I know.
When you call up of higher, do you picture ivy-covered, Greek-style buildings amassed together? Students hanging out in the quad, insulated from the nonacademic globe?
Yep, I'm non like that. So if that's what you were looking for…womp womp.
My campus buildings are scattered throughout downtown Chicago. They're surrounded past elevated subway trains, skyscrapers, and Millennium Park, which is famous for its public fine art installations. Similar I said, I'm different, and I'm for people who are a little different themselves.
You can probably gauge that my students are fairly nontraditional. Official areas of study can be anything from art history to architecture to visual arts. But don't be surprised to walk in on a class where students are turning wool into felt and sculpting it into a feltasaurus rex. People don't come up to me merely to earn a caste and get a chore. They come to me to exist inspired.
Name
Artie the Lion
Hometown
My hometown has been called The Windy City, The 2d Urban center, the City of Big Shoulders, Chi-Town, and…oh yep—also Chicago. It's generally chosen Chicago. My neighborhood is the Loop, a.k.a. across the street from Millennium Park, within walking distance of Lake Michigan, and far plenty abroad from the Magnificent Mile that you won't feel also gross.
Birthdate
1866
Body Type
I similar to stay slim—I accept only the foam of the crop. Every year I accept about 3,500 undergrads and 700 or then grad students. I'm like a tiny, arty boondocks plopped downwards right in the eye of a big metropolis.
Current Living Situation
Starting time-years don't accept to live on campus, simply nigh practice. You really tin't beat out living in downtown Chicago and minutes away from all your class buildings at the same fourth dimension. Plus, living in the dorms means you'll have a take a chance to run across more of my incredibly international and eclectic grouping of students. My dorm rooms feel a lot more similar apartments than your standard residence halls. You'll get a kitchenette, and your own individual bath. Booyah.
Of form, a lot of my upperclassmen and most of my graduate students alive off-campus, usually in 1 of the nearby North/Central neighborhoods, like the West Loop, Ukrainian Village, Logan Square, or Wicker Park. (The more hipster the neighborhood, the better.) Thankfully, the CTA's Fifty railroad train makes information technology easy to go effectually the city. The train should get you to me pretty speedily, no thing where y'all are.
Relationship Status
I'k pretty much in constant contest with the elevation arts schools on the East Coast—Yale and RISD. As far as the rest of the country is concerned, I hate to brag, no i even comes shut. Sure, in that location are other art schools, simply none are as prestigious or cutting-edge as I am.
Politics
Hello? Art school? Yeah, basically the definition of liberal. So once again, I do have my fair share of anarchists…
Y'all should utilise to me if...
traditional higher only isn't for you lot, you live and breathe fine arts, and the thought of living in downtown Chicago thrills instead of terrifies you. Oh, and having a whole mess of creative talent helps, too.
